Proofreading
The Last Stop Before Publishing
Proofreading is the final stage of the editorial process, designed for manuscripts that have already been edited and are almost ready for publication or submission. It provides that essential final quality check before your book reaches readers.
Your proofreader will work carefully through the manuscript, correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation and typographical errors, as well as missing or repeated words, spacing, capitalisation and dialogue formatting. They will also check for consistency in presentation, names, timelines and other details, and flag any minor inconsistencies or awkward phrasing that may have survived earlier rounds of editing.
All corrections are made using Tracked Changes, so you remain in complete control and can review every amendment before finalising your manuscript. The aim is simple: a clean, consistent and professionally presented book that you can feel confident putting in front of readers.
As part of working with Scott Editorial, you’ll also receive support with your synopsis or blurb, guidance on cover direction, a tailored marketing plan, a writer’s page on our website, promotion across our channels, and a call with Amy Scott to discuss your publication options.
