Lisa is currently living in Oshawa, Ontario, with her husband, 3 children, 2 dogs and a cat. She enjoys spending her time with family and friends and loves being on the water.
Her friends and family might jokingly disagree, but Lisa would spend her entire day on the lake, fishing rod in hand, if given the opportunity. Her favourite place is up north, where she can enjoy nice weather by day and campfire by night, while listening to Neil Young and Tom Petty.
Lisa works in the Legal Profession where she is able to help others with mental health issues. She is an advocate for mental health and addiction and enjoys attending webinars that talk about how to assist colleagues, friends and family that may be struggling.
Lisa hopes that one day she will be able to gain the courage, and fight her fear of public speaking. Her goal is to attend large gatherings and have open discussions about removing the stigma from mental illness and addiction.
Blurb - A Life Like Mine
Lisa was 12 years old the first time a friend’s family member tried to molest her. It was only three years later that he tried again and was successful.
While living in a broken home surrounded by substance abuse, she tried to escape her reality in any way she could. Detailing a life lived in a constant state of anxiety, A Life Like Mine visits the darkest corners of Lisa Lanteigne’s life, where she recounts all her highs and lows in raw and painful detail. Delving into her experiences with abuse, alcohol, drugs, and a slew of terrible choices in men, her memoir is dripping with both honesty and humour.
Her courageous story brings to light why historical sexual assaults are just that – historic. Dive into her world as she illuminates how deeply abuse can affect one’s life without conscious awareness.
Laugh and cry with Lisa as she unravels her story and cheer her on when she perseveres – even when the cards are stacked against her.
