Resting on the banks of the River Wye and surrounded by the unspoiled countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Hay-on-Wye may be the town of books, but when you’re roaming the cobblestones of this idyllic town, you’ll soon find boutiques, traditional markets, galleries, cafes, and many other unique, independent shops, with the splash of creative flare you would expect from a town built by fiction.

This beautifully renovated hotel that was once part of the Maesllwch Castle estate is the perfect place to dust off the winter cobwebs and spend spring writing.
All our creative writing workshops and activities are optional. Some days, you may just want to head off in search of inspiration. Walk along the river or take a canoe. Head into the hills or wander around the many, many bookshops. There are also lots of quiet spots to be found in this idyllic setting, where you can finally get your book onto paper.
All you need to bring is a laptop.
Scott Editorial specialises in working with new writers. Becoming a writer is about learning your craft. There are techniques and rules that need to be learnt - You need to know the rules before you can break them - and a hundred other tricks that a writer uses to keep a reader gripped.
